The Swedish island of Gotland is a truly unique place. The light is more present, nature more dramatic and sparse. No wonder half of Stockholm migrate here over the summer.

For generations the Arla dairy in Visby has provided Gotland with milk from local cows and farmers. It was time to give it a design of its own.

The challenge was to create an expression that seemed as genuine for the local islanders as for the summer visitors.

To capture the essense of Gotland we used limestone from Gotland, its unique textures and the classic house silhouettes along the beaches. We combined it with the simple graphic design tradition of Arla and created a minimalistic and timeless design.

The result was so popular that the Arla Gotland milk will be sold on the mainland so all the Stockholmers can get the goodness from Gotland.

To manage to get a sense of the authentic, limestone texture despite the mainstream production method of a classic milk tetra.
