Atlas Branding is a design, packaging and web design studio based in the Southeast, Asheville NC that focuses on crafting brand experiences for food and beverage, as well as consumer product and lifestyle brands. Atlas Branding was approached by client Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn, a gourmet popcorn company in Asheville, NC to help the client break into the boutique wholesale and gift markets. Over five years, Atlas worked closely with Poppy to design and develop an overarching brand position and packaging design theme that could be extended from their market bags to their higher end speciality holiday packaging lines from year-to-year.

This holiday packaging design for Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn’s 2020 holiday line features midcentury modern, and Scandinavian inspired color themes and illustrations of notable holiday and Christmas related imagery. From reindeers and foxes to ornaments and mittens, the custom illustrations from Atlas Branding wrap around the paper tube tin like a holiday totem telling a colorful, bright and festive story of celebration. A white pattern was set over the offset vector work to help add some texture to the designs and objects. Each paper tube in the collection features the same artwork, but with three different contrasting color palettes to hint both at Christmas, as well as Hanukkah.This specialty line was designed to command a higher price point and be featured in high-end retailers such as Bloomingdale’s, Food 52, Anthropologie and Union Square Market, etc.

The whimsical custom illustrations Atlas Branding created help garner Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn attention from national brands across the US. Buyers and loyal customers look forward to seeing what new holiday packaging creations and designs would be featured from year-to-year in their catalog offerings. Atlas’ packaging design work for Poppy Handcrafted Popcorn is featured in over 1,000 US based retailers and has helped grow the gourmet popcorn brand year over year.
