Hydration Station: Food Truck

hmkot2023

Hydration Station is a small, local eatery in Greentown, Indiana that derived its misson and goals from the loss of the Comet Cone (built in the 1970s).

By employing local high school students to give them a first job experience, having the goal of building socialization and bonds within the community, and providing quality food at affordable prices, Hydration Station is the place to be for locals and travelers alike! This project focuses on expanding their business and unifying their brand with the incorporation of a food truck, packaging, and a re-designed menu specific to the food truck.

This design was made to specifically reference the main idea of community building, with the letters changing in color, size, and typeface. The playful compositions give a sense of the carefree and relaxed environment Hydration Station tries to provide their customers, and the subtle hints to the 1970s retro scene with the striped pattern and bright colors give a sense of revival of the local hangout that has been missing since the closure of the Comet Cone. The use of hand-drawn, simple illustrations with a chalky texture references their extensive use of chalkboards and the advancement seen within graphic design throughout the years, from hand-made to digital. This project builds a cohesive packaging a food truck design, along with an updated logo to better unify the Hydration Station brand and identity.
