Cuba Room

Cuba Room is a unique line of cosmetics and self-care products based on natural raw materials produced in the plentiful land of Crete.

The people at Cuba Room assigned us to design the packaging of the nature-based products. The end goal was to create containers that match the brand’s character, highlight the products’ natural origins, and instantly differentiate them from the competition.

We began by designing a series of free-form illustrations, one for each flagship material (cannabis, aloe vera, sea onion, chili pepper). We wanted each container to be decorated with an artful image of its main ingredient. Then, taking a cue from the line’s brand name, we chose a dark yet vivid color palette drawing inspiration from the typical Cuban aesthetic. The colors create an intriguing contrast with the black background, which makes the product stand out.

Finally, we did the art direction and styling for the subsequent packaging photoshoot. We created a real-life analogy of the packaging design: the main ingredient appears in its natural form against a black backdrop, along with typical elements of the Cretan land (stone, soil, olive wood). The actual product stands in the middle of the set, emerging through the appropriate use of light.
