Inspiration
The inspiration of 42 started with both owners turning 42 in the same year and experienced “middle-age” enlightenment – realising that in life no matter your age – you will never have all the answers – and so the story of 42 started…. The two figures in the illustration shows the two characters of the range “Orpheus” and “the Raven” asking the “universe” for the answer to the universe… “The answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe and Everything is 42” – Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Creative Theme
The wine label is completed hand-drawn and depicts a scene that has baroque undertones with modern twists. The illustration is inspired by the etchings of Albrecht Dürer, one of the grand masters. The same approach was followed where each elaborate scene tells a story with cues of symbolism that is hidden within. The brand story of 42 reads as follow – In their search for answers to the great questions of life, Orpheus and the Raven’s eyes were opened by the light of the present. But the curious pair knew that beyond the light, the universe had more to offer. “True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing, Orpheus,” said the Raven. “Then the answer to the ultimate question is obviously 42!” replied Orpheus in delight. “ORPHEUS NEVER STOP SEARCHING”

Each label was hand numbered and signed by the wine maker to retain the hand crafted aspect of the product. Number and signature was not over printed. Cork was designed to compliment and extend the overall experience with the wine. Bronze Wax closure.
