In late 2017 Kiki’s Cocoa commissioned simoneone to create an illustrated packaging for their winter special edition of boxed chocolate pralines.

The brief was very open, with a little exception – Kiki’s Cocoa wanted to stay away from traditional representations of winter, like Christmas symbols, snowflakes, etc. So the idea of the Guardian of the Chocolates was born!

The Guardian is inspired by folklore Mayan and Aztec art – some of the pioneers of this chocolate goodness. The creature is protecting these delicious handmade chocolates – the only way to access them is to cut through its throat.

What’s Unique?
The only way to open the box of chocolates is to cut through the throat of the chocolate guardian!
