Mead is the first alcoholic beverage that was consumed by man in its origins, and is considered a precursor of beer and wine. In Antiquity it was highly consumed and had a great diffusion between different peoples and cultures.

In Europe, the Greeks, the Romans, the Celts, the Normans, the Saxons, and the Vikings made and drank it; Julio César himself made mead his favorite drink. In America, the Mayans consumed it with pieces of tree bark and in some of these cultures it was used to praise heroes and chosen by the gods.
