Bastardized is one of the most melodic doom death metal band in Singapore. Their music album ‘The Overburdened’ entails more than a decade’s life stories of the band, written into emotional songs with poetic lyrical intent, storytelling heartbreak, loss, longing, unfulfilled dreams and metamorphosis of life. The design literature created for ’The Overburdened’ packaging design is in the form of a distressed diary, which this intent is created and styled throughout the music album packaging, exploring the process of hybridizing all the elements – the band’s music, poetic lyrical intent and remembrance of Bastardized life’s experiences.

What’s Unique?
The packaging design intent seeks to to commemorate Bastardized’s life stories & music; closing the chapter of their lives with the burdening memories of more than a decade. Specially styled as a distressed diary, the packaging includes a design feature which a page within the album is manually torn. The intent is an expression to forget the burdening headaches and painful emotions. Special attention has been given to the serif font type used throughout the design to illustrate the handwritten poetic lyrics within the diary album.
