100Plus is popular in both Malaysia and Singapore. It has been consistently voted the number one isotonic drink brand in Malaysia in various surveys since its introduction in 1983.

100Plus has released special edition can design for every Chinese New Year since 2015. For 2020, the can design comes with their signature gold colour and the auspicious characters (福 – prosperity and 禧 – happiness) by blending in the Chinese words into the 100Plus logo like what Google always does with Google Doodle.

Besides that, there are four designs with different Chinese New Year elements (coin, flower, chinese knot, and firecracker). Each element is represented different wishes has become a tradition for 100Plus to usher in the New Year.

The Golden colour is the main point for the packaging. Gold symbolises wealth and riches in Chinese culture, which is the same in Western culture. No matter where you are in the world, gold represents wealth.

I used the striking red colour with a silver outline for the auspicious characters (福 – prosperity and 禧 – happiness) because red is a popular colour in Chinese culture, symbolising luck, joy, and happiness. It also represents celebration, vitality, and fertility in traditional Chinese colour symbolism.

Each can design has different Chinese New Year elements as a motif to represents the wishes of the brand.

  • Chinese Knot – Good Luck and Good Health

Overall, I want the can design to looks premium, elegant, luxurious, and celebrate the Chinese New Year with prosperity and happiness.
