A blended family of seven, Strange Family Vineyards establishes new roots and pays tribute to their late son, brother, and hero, Johnny. Making elegant, Burgundian style wines from their estate vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills became a way to celebrate his life and restore love and hope to their family. It is a very personal project, filled with passion, and was truly an honor for us to be a part of.

In creating the label and branding, it was important that the artwork captured the fearless, free spirit of their son. The iconography of the eagle soaring from the mountainside, is broken up into a dynamic two-piece label and brought to life through embossing, varnish, and foil. The packaging as a whole feels both gritty and refined, combining darkness with a lightness that signifies choosing freedom over fear.
