REDDOG is a franchise that offers halal Korean corn dogs and tteokbokki. Besides providing “delicious and affordable” products, their brand also focuses on fun and youthfulness. These are the two aspects of REDDOG that we wanted to highlight in this project.

Firstly, for the primary packaging, We decided to create a carousel. A carousel is often found in amusement parks and carnivals. We feel that the carousel fits perfectly with the REDDOG brand image because the ride already has an association with fun. This carousel consists of a roof, torso, and base. This packaging is used as a package, where customers will order eight corn dogs at once which will be inside the torso. The eight corn dogs will be planted from their sticks so that they stand vertically like horses in a carousel.

Additionally, we will add the hanguls for REDDOG on the three leading and back three sides of the torso of the carousel. This hangul is made of the same material as the torso and will be connected to the lower frame of the previously mentioned transparent material window. This hangul only covers the bottom of the window so the corn dog will still be visible through the mica paper. Then, for the two left and right sides of the torso, we will include an illustration of a carousel horse with the same technique and position as the hangul.

Secondly, for the secondary packaging, It is in the form of a large box that will protect our carousel. The bottom of said box can also be pulled out like a drawer. This feature is there so that the carousel can be removed easily. The secondary packaging is where product information such as the brand logo, queue number, product variant, halal sign, brand contacts, will be located. Not only that, this box will be decorated with illustrations of Korean faces wearing hanbok. The box itself is the person’s head where the nose is used as a handle to open the box. Then, this secondary packaging will have two variants, namely female and male heads. We believe that this visual element along with the hangul in the primary packaging will inform our customers that this product is a Korean product.

What’s Unique?
Using a carousel as our inspiration, already represents REDDOG’s fun and youthful nature. However, our design takes those two traits one step further. When the customer lifts the roof from the carousel, the 8 sides of the torso will fall into bloom, like an explosion box. Once opened, the eight corn dogs will spin like a real carousel. The base, which has an octagon shape, is also a cabinet for the various sauces offered by REDDOG. The cabinet can be moved like a drawer. This section will be divided into eight partitions.
