The six virtues turned into a logo family inspired by the spiritual meanings of birds from different cultures and religions. From those six, three were chosen to be embodied through packaging designs for traditional Italian food items. Combined with custom illustrations, monochromatic color schemes, and heat press foil accents, these elements create an elegant and sophisticated design that gives a sense of luxury and class. My name is Rachel Baker, and I am currently a junior at Ball State University studying Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing. For our final project, we were tasked with creating packaging designs for three products using logos from our previous Six Virtues Logo Family assignment. I chose to develop packages for Temperance, Humanity, and Courage and selected products based on my Italian heritage. For Temperance I designed a dipping oil seasoning set, for Humanity a bag of italian bread mix, and for Courage a bottle of olive oil.

When developing these packages, my goal was to create three cohesive designs that could function both independently and as a set. To accomplish this, I focused on an elegant, sophisticated, and minimalistic visual language for all three packages. Each package includes custom illustrations and a monochromatic color palette that reflects the ingredients used in each product to highlight each products unique features while still creating cohesion between the packages. To create a sense of sophistication and elegance, the hand-drawn illustrations are done in a style that mimics the thick and thin strokes of typefaces commonly used in high end merchandise. Combined with the typography, color palette, and heat press foil accents in the logos, all the elements work together to create chic and classy packaging that allows for both indivuality and unity among the products.
