CF Napa designed La Crosse Distilling Co.’s distributed line of spirits under the Fieldnotes name. A tranquil blue color was selected for the vodka to reflect the water locally sourced from glacial aquifers and used to distill the spirit. For the 90 proof gin, a deep green hue was utilized to reflect the botanicals in the gin. We worked with the client to determine a name that would capture the essence of these organic spirits, the natural beauty of the area and small farms that grow their organic ingredients.
The Fieldnotes packaging leverages a design inspired by historic Farmer’s Almanac covers, with hand-drawn type and drawings of local flora that frame the label. The label has a historic engraving of a hummingbird, which is a nod to the pollinators so critical to organic farming.
