Bonifacio is a local Filipino restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, dedicated to preserving and sharing the richness of authentic Filipino cuisine with the community. Born from the owner’s passion for cooking and the Filipino tradition of expressing care through food, Bonifacio aims to provide every diner with the experience of an authentic homemade Filipino meal. Whether its for a relaxing get together with friends or to try something new, everyone is welcome at Bonifacio’s tables.

The objective of this project was to develop a fresh brand identity for Bonifacio that encapsulates the owner’s core values of family and community. This journey began with the creation of a new logo, inspired by the bamboo that is prevalent in the Philippines and featured throughout the restaurant. The branding was then extended beyond the logo to encompass a food truck, packaging, and both physical and digital menus. To maximize the limited space of the food truck, the menu was also streamlined to highlight popular starters, entrees, and drinks that are easy to enjoy on the go.

The overall branding integrates elements that celebrate Filipino culture and reflect a sense of community. At the core of the visual identity are custom illustrations inspired by traditional tattoo patterns found in various native Filipino communities. These designs are arranged in circular motifs, allowing for versatility and adaptability across all branding materials. Combined with carefully selected typography, the visuals create a dynamic and cohesive identity that reflects both the restaurant’s mission and its rich Philippine heritage.
