Zalău, România (Northern Transylvania)

1251 Wines – Romania

The year 1251 holds great significance for the inhabitants of Simleu Silvaniei because it marks the town’s first official documentary attestation. Before then, this Northern Transylvanian location was called Vatha Solyomvar, which translates to The Hawk Fortress of Vath, the community leader at the time.

The design meshes the old name of the place with the year 1251 in a way that instantly conveys its historical roots.
