Once upon a time, there was a very old vineyard that produced 1375 bottles. We numbered them one by one.
Located beside the ancient Marvão castle, which dates back to the year 877 and is perched on a cliff overlooking the Serra de São Mamede mountain range, the small vineyard that gave rise to the Alegrete Wine is also extremely old.
Because it is so old, the vineyard only produces a small amount of grapes, but with great quality. The vines’ trunks have twisted over the years, acquiring extraordinary shapes that look like figures and symbols.
Therefore, we decided to use the trunks/the shapes to create a numerical font inspired by them and numbered each of these utterly exclusive 1375 bottles, making each one unique and valuable.
Each bottle is sold for 150 Euros.
Curator’s Insight
Who would think vine trunk could be a design element? Rita Rivotti used them to craft a set of unique numerical fonts, and here’s the kicker – each of these 1375 bottles bears its own number. Yes, you read that right, each bottle is one-of-a-kind, making them incredibly special and coveted.
