Seven Deadly Sins

Inspired by the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins, each packaging design embodies a sin through a plant-based theme, creating a symbolic connection between nature and human indulgence. Through bold typography, monochromatic color schemes, and minimalist design choices, the collection achieves a sleek, modern aesthetic that reflects the essence of refined skincare.

For my final project at Ball State University, where I am currently a junior studying Graphic Design, I developed three distinct packaging concepts for a shower gel, sugar scrub, and body oil. Each product is inspired by a different sin, with its core ingredient symbolizing the associated vice. Greed is represented through the shower gel, infused with aloe vera—a plant known for its soothing yet coveted skin benefits. Wrath comes to life in the sugar scrub, featuring hydrangea, chosen for its loofah-like texture, subtly representing the roughness of anger. Lastly, Lust is embodied in the body oil, paired with the alluring and romantic scent of rose, capturing the essence of desire.

My goal was to embrace the principle of “less is more,” creating designs that feel clean, impactful, and sophisticated. Each product features large, commanding typography and striking, high-contrast graphics that emphasize the sin it represents. To reinforce the plant-based theme, I incorporated organic, flowing illustrations of the plants on each label, creating a sense of movement and elegance.

The design details add depth and symbolism. The Greed shower gel label features aloe vera leaves wrapping around the typography, symbolizing the relentless grasp of desire. The Wrath sugar scrub showcases jagged hydrangea petals swirling around the product name, creating a sharp, intense visual that reflects the sin’s fiery nature. The Lust body oil packaging displays delicate, intertwining rose vines, evoking passion and temptation.

Overall, these designs capture the essence of the Seven Deadly Sins through a refined, plant-inspired lens—simple, striking, and richly symbolic, just like the allure of indulgent skincare.
