Vršnik collection

The name Vršnik is inspired by the mountainous location of the vineyards. The hill resembles a Vršnik, a traditional cooking system consisting of a large ceramic or iron bell-shaped lid, traditionally used for baking over an open hearth.

The illustration, inspired by the Byzantine mosaics of the region, depicts a stew prepared with a vršnik, often including meats and various vegetables.

The food is placed in a shallow pan on the warm hearth floor, covered with the vršnik, and then surrounded and buried with embers, held in place by a ring on the top of the vršnik. Wine is sometimes used in the cooking process to enhance the flavour of the dish.

The wine is produced by Tikveš Winery and Popov Winery (Republic of North Macedonia).

These wines are marketed and sold under the umbrella brand Tikveš Chateaux & Domaines, with the Popov brand on the back label.
