This project was created as a practice, during which I developed a new packaging concept for Balogh Pasta Ltd. As a first step, I conducted thorough research on the company’s history, geographical ties, and values, and then selected three gluten-free pasta products made solely from ingredients sourced from domestic producers. The company places great importance on the past and tradition, 100% Hungarian ingredients, and serving the community with allergies, which is also reflected in the packaging I envisioned.
The planned packaging has been given a unique, pyramid-shaped design that differs from traditional pasta packaging, making it stand out more easily in the market. The foldable tip of the pyramid offers a practical solution for dispensing the product. The front is adorned with a new logo that I designed to replace the company’s old branding. As part of the visual concept, line-drawn illustrations appear on the front of the packaging, depicting the local wildlife of the company’s geographical environment. I created the illustrations in a unified style; however, each of the three packages received different graphics, making them easily distinguishable: one depicts the Tisza Lake, the other poppy flowers, while the third illustrates a gray heron.
The mandatory informational elements can be found on the back of the packaging, while a viewing window has been placed on one side, allowing the customer to see the product with their own eyes. Sustainability was also an important aspect: the packaging is fully biodegradable and recyclable. In terms of raw materials, it is made from recycled paper, while the viewing window is made from corn starch, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional packaging materials.
