Monteclaro Olio – “Frantoio”ABOUT

Monteclaro Olio is a family-run olive oil brand. We were brought in to create a premium identity for their flagship extra virgin olive oil. But instead of simply dressing a bottle, we set out to design a relic, one that felt as though it had always existed.

This project wasn’t about surface appeal. It was about building a system that could hold weight, memory, and meaning, much like the land it comes from.

CONCEPT

The name Monteclaro means “clear mountain,” and that paradox shaped our creative path: light cutting through density, clarity within wilderness. The label became a symbolic gate, where earth meets ritual.

We explored the idea of legacy and emergence. This wasn’t just olive oil; it was a family’s lineage distilled into a product. The goal: to build a visual language that feels ancestral yet sharp, artisanal but elevated. One that whispers rather than shouts and still commands attention on a crowded shelf.

SOLUTION

From the start, we knew we didn’t want a rustic look. This wasn’t about leaning into clichés of “natural.” Instead, we imagined an object of devotion: stately, solemn, and deeply intentional.

The bottle’s front was composed like a coat of arms — featuring micro-typographic details, iconography, and visual gravitas. A bespoke serif logotype leads the hierarchy, flanked by carefully weighted ornaments and emblems that nod to tradition, but with a modern edge. The black-on-black label, punctuated by soft gold foil, conjures both mystery and nobility.

We designed the entire label to feel like a contemporary heirloom — something that belongs in both the pantry and a private collection.

TECHNIQUE

The process was a blend of old-world tactility and modern craft. We worked with textured Italian paper, applied hot-stamped gold foil, and incorporated embossed micro-details that reward close inspection.

The composition was modeled in 3D to experiment with light interaction and physical presence, ensuring the design performed not just visually, but sensorially. Every element — from color palette to label proportions — was tuned to evoke density, elegance, and depth.

WHAT’S UNIQUE

Monteclaro doesn’t scream for attention. It pulls you in. There’s no overt storytelling on the label — instead, it feels as though a story has already happened, and the bottle is what remains.

Its uniqueness lies in its restraint. While most olive oils compete through color or Mediterranean nostalgia, Monteclaro stands still – like a monument in the landscape – and lets the consumer approach it with curiosity, reverence, and trust.

RESULTS

The product launched in limited batches and quickly became a top-tier choice for gourmet shops, boutique distributors, and private clients. But more importantly, the brand created a new symbolic territory: one where Argentine olive oil could be both soulful and exquisite not rustic, but regal.

At Tuerca Studio, we believe packaging isn’t just about what’s seen. It’s about what’s remembered. And Monteclaro leaves a mark like all things born from soil, family, and timeless craft.
