Cake Carry Boxes for Cafés and Patisseries | Shabouk (شعبوق)

This bakery and patisserie packaging collection was developed by Shabouk (شعبوق), a UAE-based manufacturer of custom boxes and premium food packaging for cafés, dessert brands and bakeries across the UAE and the wider GCC.

The idea for the project came from a simple observation inside local coffee shops: many customers were leaving with a takeaway coffee in one hand and an unprotected pastry box or paper bag in the other. Drinks were being balanced on top of boxes, pastries were getting damaged in transit, and the overall experience did not reflect the quality of the products. The Shabouk team set out to design a family of boxes that could handle real everyday movement while still feeling gift-worthy and on-brand for modern cafés.

The hero structure in the collection is a compact cube that combines a pastry compartment with a dedicated top ring for a takeaway coffee cup. The lower section holds a single pastry or dessert securely, while the upper cut-out locks the cup in place so the customer can carry both items in one hand. This integrates the drink and the food into one clean object and removes the improvised “cup on top of the box” behaviour. The exterior uses a fresh pastel colour palette with simple geometric lines, giving the piece a contemporary café look that works for both independent patisseries and chain concepts.

Around this, the collection expands into several cake and dessert carriers at different sizes. There are foldable handle boxes for medium cakes and pastry assortments, large rigid cake boxes with ribbon closures for premium celebration cakes, and a minimal gift-style cube with a bow-shaped top that turns even a simple bakery item into a present. Each format focuses on easy carrying, clean stacking in the shop, and a strong front panel that can hold the brand identity without visual noise.

Colour and structure stay deliberately calm and optimistic: soft pinks, mint and light blues paired with subtle frames or thin border lines. This keeps the boxes photogenic for social media while still feeling practical and safe for delivery and takeaway. The designs can be adapted to different print finishes—from simple offset printing for everyday volume orders to specialty boards, foils and embossing for high-end patisserie launches or hotel dessert programs.

From a functional perspective, all boxes are engineered to flat-pack efficiently for storage and quick assembly at the counter. Locking systems are robust enough for GCC delivery conditions and repeated handling, with bases designed to support the weight of heavier cakes and layered desserts. The collection allows cafés and bakeries in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other Emirates to use one coherent visual language across single pastries, coffee-and-croissant combos, birthday cakes and larger dessert orders.

Designed and produced by Shabouk (شعبوق) in the United Arab Emirates, this project reflects the brand’s focus on combining structural problem-solving with visual simplicity. The result is a flexible bakery and patisserie packaging system that can serve small boutique cafés as well as larger regional operators across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman, while keeping the experience of carrying coffee and cake both practical and beautifully presented.
