This lifestyle candle and gift box collection was developed by Shabouk (شعبوق), a UAE-based manufacturer of luxury rigid boxes and custom packaging for beauty, wellness and gifting brands across the UAE and the GCC.
The project started from a simple question: how can everyday self-care products feel like small art pieces on a shelf, instead of just objects in plain boxes? The Shabouk team wanted to design packaging that could live comfortably in modern homes and studios, adding colour and personality to a corner table, a nightstand or a bathroom shelf. The result is a collection of illustrated rigid boxes and coordinated sleeves that treat each candle as part of a visual story.
In the first direction, a long rigid set box holds four candles in a clean linear arrangement. Each glass candle carries a fragment of a larger illustration, so that when the set is opened, the fronts align to complete a full artwork spanning across the tray. The design mixes bold botanical forms with soft character drawings, using overlapping colours and shapes to create a sense of motion. When customers split the set and place the candles separately around the house, each one still works as a standalone piece with its own cropped composition.
Another format features a compact rigid box with a full flap opening that reveals a shaped insert holding a single candle and a secondary product such as a small accessory or fragrance sample. The structure behaves like a keepsake book: opening the cover reveals the inner artwork and the product framed in white space. The outer panels carry pastel architectural scenes and lifestyle vignettes inspired by sunny, optimistic cityscapes, giving brands a warm, approachable tone rather than a strictly minimal luxury expression.
A third direction explores simple lid-and-base rigid boxes in vibrant solids stacked together. Here, illustration is concentrated on the top panel of the hero box, showing a group of women in profile, suggesting community, diversity and shared experiences. Beneath it, supporting boxes in bright teal and pink with thin contrast lines build a colour-blocked stack that can be rearranged by the customer and used long after the original products have been finished.
Across the collection, illustration is not treated as decoration alone but as a storytelling layer that supports brand positioning in the lifestyle, self-care and gifting space. The visual language balances hand-drawn warmth with clear geometry, allowing the boxes to appeal both to boutique brands and more established labels targeting younger, design-aware audiences in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other GCC cities.
From a production standpoint, the pieces are built as rigid board constructions with high-quality wrapped papers and precise inserts to protect glass containers and delicate items during shipping and handling. Surfaces are printed in offset with the option of matte lamination and selective varnish to highlight key areas of the artwork. The formats are engineered for efficient stacking in retail environments and for attractive unboxing moments in social media content.
Designed and produced by Shabouk (شعبوق) in the United Arab Emirates, this collection demonstrates how expressive illustration and thoughtful structure can work together to transform everyday candles and self-care products into collectible, display-ready objects for brands across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman.
