Designing everyday carry as a statement of reuse and conscious living

Project overview: The Olicatessen Tote Bags transform a simple everyday object into a design-led expression of sustainability and brand values. Created for in-store use and daily life, the totes are not promotional items, but functional tools that support reuse, quality and thoughtful consumption.

Designed to be used repeatedly, they accompany customers beyond the store, carrying both products and philosophy into the city.

The challenge: Reusable bags are often treated as temporary alternatives to plastic. Our aim was to design a tote that feels permanent, practical and visually distinctive — an object people choose to keep and use.

The tote needed to function equally as a packaging and lifestyle accessory.

Material & construction: The bags are made from 100% thick, durable cotton canvas, selected for strength and longevity.

Key features include: a heavyweight cotton fabric, reinforced structure for comfortable transport and an internal pocket for everyday essentials.

The tactile quality of the material communicates durability and intention.

Visual concept: The graphic language is inspired by the fruits and vegetables of the Greek land. The motifs reference natural abundance, seasonality and freshness, connecting the tote directly to Olicatessen’s world of Greek produce and honest ingredients.

Playful yet grounded, the visuals balance character with everyday usability.

Use & sustainability: The totes are used extensively at Olicatessen for shopping, gift packaging and product transport, actively reducing the need for plastic and single-use materials.

At the core of the project lies a clear philosophy: reusable over disposable. Through design rather than instruction, the totes encourage conscious, long-term use.

Outcome: The result is a functional, durable tote that supports ecological values, communicates brand identity and integrates sustainability naturally into daily routines, one reusable object at a time.
