Shinobi

SHINOBI is a conceptual packaging project for a Japanese blended whisky built around the idea of concealment as identity.

Inspired by the figure of the shinobi, the packaging translates the physical act of covering the face into a material gesture. The bottle is wrapped in black fabric bandages that simulate how a shinobi conceals his identity to disappear, remain unseen and avoid recognition. Rather than decorating the bottle, the wrapping deliberately masks it.

Information is reduced to the essential and printed directly onto the fabric, allowing only fragments to remain visible. Identity is not displayed but partially hidden, encouraging discovery through proximity rather than immediate recognition.

SHINOBI proposes an alternative approach to spirits packaging, where restraint replaces spectacle and silence becomes a deliberate design choice.
