PROJECT DESCRIPTION (short)

A Chinese New Year red packet gift set inspired by symbolic plants and the cultural meaning of blessings. The project explores the beauty of Takeo paper through cutting, folding, and texture, transforming traditional red packets into a reusable and interactive gift experience.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project is a Chinese New Year red packet gift set inspired by symbolic plants associated with prosperity and good fortune — ZZ Plant, Kumquat, Anthurium, Pussy Willow, and Orchid. Each plant represents a different blessing such as wealth, growth, happiness, and success.

The design also references the traditional Chinese ginger jar, a symbol of prosperity and completeness, representing a container that carries and passes on blessings.

Inspired by Takeo’s dedication to fine paper, the project highlights paper craftsmanship through cutting, folding, and layered textures, transforming the red packets into small pieces of paper art.

To encourage sustainability, the design avoids zodiac-specific imagery so the red packets can be reused for multiple years. An interactive element allows users to cut out the plant illustrations and place them into the vase-shaped packaging, creating a small “paper garden” that symbolically grows the blessings.
