CASAHANA’s Savory Cookies

My packaging concept for CASAHANA’s savory cookies is inspired by the nostalgic tear-off calendar, reinterpreted through an old Nanyang visual style to evoke a sense of memory, time, and cultural familiarity. The design brings Malaysian heritage into a contemporary snacking experience, allowing the product to feel both emotionally resonant for older generations and visually engaging for younger audiences who appreciate storytelling and retro aesthetics.

Each flavor—Cereal Prawn, Chilli Crab, Curry Fish Head, and Satay is presented as a “date” on the calendar, turning every box into a collectible moment. This approach not only differentiates the flavors but also creates a playful narrative, where each “day” represents a unique taste of local culture. The use of bold typography, vintage layout structures, and subtle references to traditional kopitiam visuals reinforces the old Nanyang atmosphere.

To enhance inclusivity, tactile elements are incorporated on the packaging, allowing visually impaired users to identify and engage with the product through touch. This adds a meaningful layer beyond aesthetics, making the design more thoughtful and accessible.

The overall visual system combines retro charm with modern clarity, using structured layouts, strong contrast, and consistent graphic elements to maintain cohesion across all flavors. The result is a packaging experience that feels nostalgic yet fresh, celebrating Malaysian food culture in a way that is memorable, functional, and emotionally connected.
