ZUDI Coffee Co.

ZUDI Coffee Co.

ABOUT

ZUDI Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee brand and roastery based in Athens, built around the idea of extraordinary flavors that challenge conventional taste. The name ZUDI (Greek slang: ζούδι) refers to a wild animal or someone acting beyond logic — a word with a sarcastic tone that reflects a nonconformist and instinct-driven character.

Inspired by the brand’s manifesto Specialty coffee, unleashed, the visual identity channels the wild instincts of the animal world. The packaging system is built around patterns inspired by iconic species found in coffee-growing regions around the globe, including tiger, giraffe, jaguar, crocodile, and poison dart frog.

These patterns are reinterpreted through unconventional and vibrant color palettes, transforming the packaging into expressive visual statements while reflecting the bold personality of the brand.

SOLUTION

The packaging design places animal patterns at the center of the visual system. Each pattern is treated as a distinct graphic language representing different coffee varieties.

Beyond aesthetics, the packaging is designed as a versatile system capable of accommodating both whole-bean coffee and coffee capsules. For capsule editions, an inner paper insert is introduced inside the box to hold 15 capsules, creating structure and controlled negative space while also carrying printed messages on both sides.

Additionally, the side panel where the flavor label is placed is perforated, allowing the user to tear it off and keep the flavor information even after the box is discarded. This small functional detail transforms the package into a more interactive and memorable object.

RESULT

The result is a packaging system defined by iconic animal patterns and unexpected color palettes, creating a striking shelf presence that reflects the wild spirit of the brand.

Together, these elements transform each package into a bold visual statement that reflects ZUDI’s character — where specialty coffee is fully unleashed.
