Maruti Tea

jami

A tea packaging design created for the Indian company Maruti, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

This is packaged Indian black tea in tea bags, aimed at the mass consumer who wants a rich taste and the feeling of “authentic Indian tea” at an affordable price. The product blends everyday consumption with a subtle sense of exoticism and tradition.

The concept is built on visual immersion into India through architecture, ornaments, and cultural symbols.

The goal is not just to present tea, but to create an association with the origin, atmosphere, and culture of the country:

Architecture (Indian temples) represents authenticity, the dancer reflects living culture and movement, ornamentation conveys tradition and decoration, while the warm palette evokes spices, sun, and warmth.

All of this is combined into a commercially clear and emotionally rich visual.

A balanced compositional solution is used, where:

The center features a clear brand block (logo + form),
The middle highlights the key message “INDIAN BLACK TEA”,
The left introduces an architectural anchor (trust, origin),
The right presents a cultural element (emotion, dynamism).

At the same time, the composition is instantly readable, avoids overload despite its richness, and performs strongly on shelf with its contrast, warmth, and visibility.

A combined graphic approach is applied:

Digital illustration (architecture and background),
Photocollage / character treatment (dancer),
Ornamental graphics with layered textures,
Gradients and light transitions for depth,
Simulation of embossing and gold through color and contrast,
A clear modular packaging layout.

Importantly, the design creates the impression of a premium product without relying on complex printing techniques — a smart commercial decision.

What makes this packaging design unique?

A balance between mass appeal and “pseudo-premium” positioning.
The design looks rich without becoming heavy or overly luxurious.
Clear geographical positioning — the consumer immediately understands: this is India, not an abstract tea.
A dual visual hook — architecture and character — holds attention longer than competitors.
A strong color code — warm red and gold tones associated with tea, spices, and warmth.
Good shelf readability — bold contrast and clear hierarchy.

The design effectively solves key commercial challenges:

✔ Stands out among typical tea packaging on shelf
✔ Communicates instantly (1–2 seconds is enough to understand)
✔ Builds trust through visual cues of origin
✔ Creates a perception of higher product value
✔ Easily scalable for product line extensions (colors/countries can be adapted)
