ABOUT
Cargo No. 1966 is a conceptual tea packaging project inspired by the cultural and visual landscape of Hong Kong. Rooted in its history as a trading port, the project reimagines tea as cargo in motion. Set in the Year of the Fire Horse, it draws from themes of strength and movement while reinterpreting the 1966 superstition by positioning women as central figures who carry and connect the city through tea.

SOLUTION
The packaging is built around a detailed isometric illustration of Old Hong Kong, centered on a main tea house, ie., Cargo No. 1966, from which tea is distributed across the city by women riding fire horses. A muted, archival-inspired palette establishes a sense of history, while red accents highlight movement and narrative. The system includes five tea variants—green, black, oolong, white, and pu’erh.

RESULT
The result is a cohesive, storytelling-driven packaging system where illustration and narrative work together to create an immersive brand experience. Moving away from conventional luxury aesthetics, the design embraces restraint and cultural depth, transforming tea into a medium that captures the rhythm, movement, and memory of Hong Kong.
