Curator’s Insight

“Keep Calm and Finjamos Demencia” says it all before you even look at the label. But then you do look, and there’s a figure lounging in a hammock on a balcony while UFOs hover, a monster tears through a cityscape, and chaos unfolds in every direction behind them. The illustration is rendered in a detailed engraving style on aged parchment paper, which makes the absurdity land even harder. It’s a very serious-looking label about absolutely not taking things seriously.

The typography plays its part perfectly too. “Finjamos Demencia” is set in a commanding serif that feels like it belongs on a 19th century broadsheet, while the gold “Keep Calm And” sits above it with just the right amount of irony. For a Mendoza Malbec, it’s a surprisingly witty piece of design that manages to be chaotic and refined at the same time.
