The Label Lab is a showcase of experimental design projects organized by Fedrigoni, the global reference in premium self-adhesive papers. For this initiative, seven leading design studios from Argentina were invited to create a label concept, challenging the technical possibilities of Fedrigoni’s substrates and exploring their full potential through innovative print execution.
In response to this challenge, our concept was built around two universal symbols—the eye and the sun—which, when brought together, express a powerful idea: the ability to perceive what others overlook.
The sun embodies energy, origin, and vitality. It also serves as a direct reference to Argentina, the focal point of this edition of The Label Lab. The eye, meanwhile, represents sensitivity and vision: the designer’s ability to observe, interpret, and transform that origin into a meaningful label.
Visually, the design reflects this dialogue between intuition and structure. A classic, orderly composition is interrupted by a bold and expressive intervention, creating immediate visual impact while enhancing differentiation.
Tactile finishes and embossed details further enrich the experience, adding a sense of value and craftsmanship. These layered elements reinforce the concept of depth, attention, and the thoughtful process behind every design decision.
Curator’s Insight
What makes this label land is the tension it holds between two very different visual languages. The background is measured and geometric, the kind of quiet scaffolding that signals craft and precision. Then the sun and eye arrive and break all of that open. The embossed rays have a physical presence that photography barely does justice to, and the photorealistic iris sitting at the center creates an uncanny focal point that is genuinely hard to look away from. It is a confident piece of work that understands print finishing not as decoration but as concept. The cork and branded muselet cap carry the same attention through to the top of the bottle, which matters more than it might seem.
