Eselmehl by MILK. Packaging Design Agency

Eselmehl has received a carefully considered packaging redesign that brings one of Austria’s long-established flour brands into the present. The relaunch preserves the distinctive character that generations of consumers recognize while giving the range a clearer, more contemporary presence on the shelf.

GoodMills commissioned the Frankfurt-based German packaging design agency MILK. to modernize the iconic packaging without losing the familiarity and trust associated with the brand. The challenge was to simplify an expressive but increasingly cluttered design and create a more structured system that could communicate tradition, quality and product information with greater confidence.

The redesigned packs introduce cleaner lines, a restrained colour palette and more precise typography. A clearly defined information hierarchy improves orientation across the range, allowing shoppers to identify the relevant flour variety quickly and easily.

At the heart of the identity remains Eselmehl’s unmistakable donkey illustration. Carefully refined and given more space within the composition, the character continues to act as the brand’s strongest visual asset while connecting the updated design to its heritage.

The result is a packaging system that feels calm, distinctive and unmistakably Eselmehl. By balancing recognition with renewed clarity and visual impact, the redesign strengthens the brand’s perceived quality and prepares this Austrian classic for its next chapter.
