Fluence 18 Years – Canadian Rye Whisky

Design Challenge:

Probably this is one of my most complex bottle designs, although the concept is simple — which is a set of ellipses (ovals) each elevated about 50mm from the base and each rotating at an angle of 30° degrees while increasing in size then decreasing. The 1st challenge was with the horizontal stripes (ridges) around the complex curvature. The second challenge was accurately structuring the bottle to maintain a volume of 750 ml (750.19 to be exact) and still stay below a limit of 25 cm (Well it was 255.6 mm with the cap and cork – which is OK).

Rye Whisky:

Canadian rye whisky is a renowned style of spirits traditionally defined by its unique blending methods, smooth texture, and historic use of rye grain. Key features include versatile blending practices, a minimum three-year aging requirement, and distinct spice and fruit flavor profiles.

• Blending traditions: Many producers of rye whisky combine a high-proof, corn-heavy base whisky for texture with lower-proof rye flavoring whiskies.
• Aging requirement: Must spend at least three years maturing in wooden barrels in Canada.
• Naming history: The term “rye whisky” was historically used interchangeably with Canadian whisky, even when the mash contained mostly corn.

Theme & Concept:

Former Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer Noah L. Florence spent years chasing moonshine smugglers along the dusty southwest border. Retiring from the force, he traded his badge for copper stills to master an honest craft. Now, he channels that wild, untamed spirit into distilling exceptional, small-batch Canadian rye whiskey.

The distillery takes its name directly from Noah himself. Teased relentlessly during his patrol days for a lisp that softened his “R”s, he was mockingly dubbed “Mountie Fluence.” Noah reclaimed the old jab with pride, naming the whiskey Fluence to celebrate his journey, his grit, and his unbreakable spirit.
