GrowthS Kids Step-by-Stage DHA Algae Oil Softgel Packaging
Design Agency:HONGLUOTU(宏洛图) Brand Design
Project Type:Full brand visual system + product packaging + cross-channel commercial visuals
Target Scenarios:E-commerce detail pages, social media marketing, offline maternal & infant store displays, supermarket shelves, gift sets, exhibition materials, outdoor ads, live streaming assets
Brand Creative Core & Naming Thinking (Designer Practical Perspective)
Most children’s nutrition DHA on the market uses one-size-fits-all formulas, ignoring developmental differences across infant and toddler months — this was our core starting pain point when HONGLUOTU(宏洛图) took on the GrowthS full brand brief. We refused generic medical-style supplement visuals and built a unique “5-stage age-separated nutrition” brand track from naming to full visual logic.
The brand name GrowthS is not a random spelling tweak. We split the suffix S into four actionable brand pillars to anchor every design decision:
Step:Exclusive 5-stage growth system covering 0–6m, 6–12m, 1–3y, 3y+, 6y+ to match kids’ natural growth rhythms Science:Age-targeted nutritional ratios backed by pediatric nutrition logic Supreme:Integrated nutrition for brain, eyes, physical growth & emotional regulation to cut parents’ pile of separate supplements Success:Visual narrative of continuous growth progress from newborn to school age
Our core design proposition from day one: Stage-based growth, targeted all-round nutrition. Instead of vague slogans, we turned this selling point into every visible packaging detail, so shoppers grasp the differentiated value at a single shelf glance. We rejected cold, clinical packaging clichés that dominate maternal nutrition shelves, and built a soft, parent-child friendly visual tone that feels like daily dietary care, not pharmaceutical medication.
HONGLUOTU(宏洛图)’s exclusive design viewpoint: Great maternal nutrition packaging doesn’t just hold products — it simplifies parenting anxiety. The entire visual system is built to solve one real user pain: juggling dozens of different supplements for kids of different ages.
Visual System Design Execution (Hands-On Design Thinking)
Color System – Shelf Differentiation Tactics
Maternal shelves are flooded with saturated blue and green DHA bottles, so we locked low-saturation matte nude pink as the main bottle body hue immediately in color testing. The muted soft tone delivers gentle, safe maternal temperament, and creates instant visual separation amid competitors without loud, childish neon shades.
We paired it with high-recognition Klein Blue numbered markers for stages 1–5. The cool bright blue balances the warm nude base; high contrast lets parents scan and match their kid’s age group within 1 second, zero reading friction. For social media and campaign visuals, we added pastel lavender, sky blue and warm orange accents to lighten the parenting atmosphere without cluttering product packaging.
Custom Graphic Symbols (User-First Graphic Logic)
Number stage icons: Each embedded figure silhouette matches the exact growth milestone — swaddled newborn, crawling baby, walking toddler, preschooler, school-age child. Text and imagery merge to eliminate the need to read small print; consumers decode the age range purely visually. This was a non-negotiable requirement from our retail shelf test feedback. Custom GROWTHS logotype: We modeled the font texture after the softgel capsule itself, weaving the product form straight into the brand mark to strengthen category recognition at first sight. 3D cartoon DHA letter props: Used across campaign visuals to lock the algae oil category association without overcrowding bottle packaging.
Bottle Structural Design (Manufacturing & User Double Win)
We landed on a plump, capsule-shaped bottle body with mushroom dome caps, fully rounded with zero sharp edges — two layers of logic here:
Emotional metaphor: The curved silhouette echoes the soft, gentle image of infants, stripping away harsh drug-like packaging stiffness to frame DHA as daily mild food supplementation. Production economy: A unified mold for all 5 stages drastically cuts client mold opening costs, while consistent silhouette creates neat, powerful series stacking on retail shelves. Only the numbered stage graphic differentiates variants, streamlining factory production and retail merchandising alike.
Packaging Material & Craft Implementation (On-Site Production Practical Details)
Inner Softgel Bottle
Substrate: Food-grade matte PP plastic, the standard safe material for infant oral supplements, fully compliant with food contact regulations. Surface finish: Custom matte soft-touch spray coating. We tested multiple coating formulas to eliminate fingerprint smudges and deliver a velvety low-sheen nude pink finish, elevating premium texture without high-gloss cheapness. Printing: UV screen printing for all bottle graphics. Klein Blue ink boasts strong adhesion and scratch resistance — critical for bottles that get repeatedly grabbed, wiped and carried by parents. Caps: Matching food-grade PP mushroom caps with identical unified spray coating, forming a seamless monolithic visual between cap and bottle body.
Outer Cylindrical Gift Canister
Base stock: Heavyweight specialty touch-feel paper tube with high rigidity, fully recyclable eco paper to align with modern maternal eco-consumer preferences. Lamination: Full soft-touch matte film wrap for a skin-like smooth handfeel when gifting or unboxing. Decorative craft layering: Core stage number graphics: Hot blue foil stamping for premium gift-grade detail Top brand logotype: Silver hot stamping for subtle hierarchy separation Embossed blue dividing line circling the tube body to visually split lid and barrel, adding depth without extra printing layers Structure: Simple lift-off lid tube, easy to open for single-product retail sales, multi-stage combo gift bundles and holiday gifting scenarios. We avoided complex lock structures that increase production labor costs.
Series Packaging Systematic Logic (Commercial Merchandising Design Strategy)
All five SKUs share identical bottle structure, unified color palette and consistent layout grid — differentiation only comes from stage number and embedded growth silhouette graphics. From HONGLUOTU(宏洛图)’s retail design experience, this standardized series system delivers three tangible commercial advantages:
Shelf impact: Uniform rounded bottle shapes form a continuous brand block on supermarket/maternal shop shelves, outperforming scattered, mismatched competitor lines. Narrative continuity: The sequential 1–5 numbering visually tells a complete growth journey from newborn to school age, embedding the brand’s full-cycle nutrition concept passively. Low decision cost: Parents skip reading dense fine print; they match their child’s age straight to the corresponding numbered bottle, cutting in-store selection time dramatically.
Cross-Channel Commercial Visual Design Layout
We built a full-scene supporting visual toolkit alongside packaging, all following soft natural light minimalist aesthetics to avoid overhyped, tacky sales visuals that erode premium maternal brand trust:
Parent-child real-scene key visuals: Paired each stage number with real families of matching age groups to build authentic audience identification for social media and store posters. 3D product stills: Solid neutral background shots highlighting bottle matte texture, capsule silhouette and color contrast — optimized for e-commerce main images, thumbnail previews and live streaming cutaways. Brand narrative large-format visuals: Horizontal continuous growth montages showing the full 5-stage kid development timeline, designed for exhibition booth backdrops and outdoor billboards to convey the brand’s core concept at long viewing distances.
Design Differentiation Value Summary (HONGLUOTU(宏洛图) Core Design Insight) Unique market positioning anchor: Every packaging element locks into the rare 5-stage age-separated children’s nutrition selling point — structure, color, graphic symbols all reinforce the “stage feeding” mental model, creating clear separation from generic all-age DHA competitors. Balanced usability & aesthetics: We prioritized readability for busy parents above decorative flourish; every graphic and color choice solves a real shopping friction point, rather than pursuing empty visual beauty. Omni-channel adaptability: The unified packaging system works seamlessly across online e-commerce traffic conversion, offline shelf retail display and holiday gift packaging, eliminating the need for separate design iterations for each sales channel. Long-term brand asset scalability: The standardized VI visual framework can be directly extended to future supplementary product lines (calcium, probiotics, iron supplements etc.), accumulating consistent brand recognition without full redesign cycles for new launches.
