Snack-A-Doodle: A Kids Packaging System That Plays Back

What if the packaging was the toy?

Snack-A-Doodle is a self-initiated concept packaging project for a kids’ snacking brand built around the belief that snack time should feel like play time. The challenge was twofold: make the experience more engaging for children, and solve a real usability problem with conventional vertical cylindrical cookie packs that become increasingly difficult to access as the product level drops.

The solution shifts format entirely. Moving from the traditional vertical cylinder to a horizontal built-in tray structure, the packaging becomes more accessible, more portable, and more sustainable in a single structural decision. The integrated tray eliminates the need for separate plastic inserts, reducing material consumption while using biodegradable paper throughout.

Compact enough to fit in a child’s hand, it travels easily and works just as well on the go as it does at home.

The interactivity goes further. The single cylindrical pack is built across three rotating bands: the top layer carries four different character heads, the middle four character bodies, and the bottom four character legs and illustrated environments. Children twist the bands to mix and match, generating their own entirely new characters from endless combinations. The packaging becomes something to play with long after the last cookie is gone.

The bold, character-led illustration system doubles as a scalable visual language across flavours and formats, giving the brand a flexible identity that grows with its product range.

Accessible, interactive, portable, and sustainable: Snack-A-Doodle turns a functional object into an imaginative one, where good design and genuine play are built into the same structure.
