A Spacecraft Designed to Be OpenedThe gift box is constructed with silver foil to create the metallic exterior of a spacecraft. Its geometric surface recalls the framework of a spacecraft hull and a navigation interface, while the circular opening at the centre becomes an observation window. Through this window, the rabbit, lunar landscape, and flying object come together to form an interstellar story in motion.

As the light and viewing angle shift, the silver foil evokes spacecraft metal, reflected moonlight, and the surfaces of space equipment. The moon is no longer simply a distant circle to be observed, but a destination that can be approached, landed on, and brought home.

Curator’s Insight

Mid-Autumn packaging usually reaches for the moon as a motif: a circle, a rabbit, some gold foil. This one treats the moon as a destination instead, and that shift changes what the structure has to do.

The box itself performs the transition from viewing to arrival before the recipient touches the product. The geometric foil panels around it borrow directly from spacecraft paneling and instrument housing rather than generic “futuristic” ornament, which is why the metaphor holds up under scrutiny instead of feeling like a skin applied to a standard box.
