ABOUT
Oscypek is a traditional Polish smoked cheese from the Podhale region, made from sheep’s and cow’s milk with a distinctive double-cone shape. Despite being one of the most recognizable artisanal products in Poland, it is usually sold on the market wrapped in generic, vacuum-sealed plastic film. OSCYPAK was created to solve this problem—giving this traditional cheese a worthy, premium packaging that transforms a local product into an elegant gift with an authentic story.
CONCEPT
The structure and aesthetics of OSCYPAK draw directly from the shape of the regional cheeses themselves. The core idea was to create an ethnodesign packaging that goes beyond folkloric cliché and translates mountain traditions into the language of modern design. We used the geometry of Podhale ornamentation, translating it into a spatial structure that seamlessly harmonizes with the aged shape of the cheese, elevating it to a premium gift status.
SOLUTION & TECHNIQUE
The solution is an eco-friendly, three-dimensional packaging folded from a single sheet of paper in just a few seconds. The structure not only protects the product, but above all serves as a flexible branding carrier for local producers, the HoReCa sector, and regional brands.
WHAT IS UNIQUE
OSCYPAK brings an innovative approach to packaging for traditional crafts. Its key differentiator is a flexible customization system that allows any brand to apply its own logo and custom graphic details. This transforms a standard food item into an elegant, mood-setting gift, significantly boosting its commercial appeal and perceived value.
RESULT
The project proved that traditional craftsmanship and modern packaging design can generate new market value. OSCYPAK gained industry recognition (including awards at Make Me! and ART OF PACKAGING). Most importantly, it provided local producers with an effective tool to build their own brand and increase the perceived value of their products.
