CASAHANA’s Savory Cookies
My CASAHANA savory cookie packaging takes inspiration from traditional tin packaging, bringing Nanyang food culture into a contemporary snacking experience. The design balances cultural nostalgia with modern simplicity, presenting familiar traditional flavors in a younger and more approachable way. It preserves the emotional memories of older generations while appealing to younger consumers who value cultural authenticity, storytelling, and emotional connection.

The overall visual direction is centered around a Nanyang retro aesthetic, featuring vintage typography, multilingual layouts, and warm tones such as buttery yellow and earthy brown to create a nostalgic yet welcoming atmosphere. Hand-drawn illustrations and icons inspired by local classic dishes are combined with visual elements from old-school kopitiams, giving the packaging a balance of retro charm and playful contemporary character.

Each flavor Cereal Prawn, Curry Fish Head, Satay, and Chili Crab is transformed into a distinctive visual theme, incorporating familiar local dishes into the packaging design. Different flavors are differentiated through their respective imagery, colors, and patterns while maintaining a consistent overall visual system, allowing consumers to easily recognize and experience the character of each flavor.

More than just biscuit packaging, this design is a reinterpretation of Nanyang food culture and collective memories. Familiar flavors connect us to family, hawker culture, and childhood moments, allowing traditional flavors to be not only preserved, but also carried forward through a more playful and contemporary expression.
