Product details
DOLCEDOLKA orange slices in milk, dark and white chocolate. A new limited edition in new packaging, made as an exquisite gift.
Design concept
The theme is tarot. The line has three flavors, and the deck has three cards that suit them: warm Star, with its hope, went to milk chocolate; stern Sun, with its clarity, to dark; mirror-like Moon, with its intuition, to white. A card is a picture and a meaning at once, so each flavor now has not only a color but a mood.
Solutions
Each card lives in an arch: on pink, a painted jug pouring a white stream beneath a scatter of stars; on yellow, a sun with a face and long rays; on blue, a crescent moon with a face in profile. The color of the arch marks the flavor, as in the brand’s New Year edition. The Major Arcana numeral — XVII, XIX or XVIII — is repeated on both sides of the logo, so the box is numbered like a card of the deck.
Techniques
One construction for all three boxes: an arched window, a numeral on both sides of the logo, a slice dipped halfway in the chocolate of its flavor below the arch, ornamental lettering for the title, and the label “Exquisite gift” above the logo.
Curator’s Insight
The most interesting decision here is what stays literal. Every symbol is rendered as a tonal, embossed engraving in a bronze-gold register, so the saturated pink, yellow and blue arches can shout without the illustration fighting them. The orange slice is the only photographic element on the box, and that contrast does the work: the tarot imagery reads as the promise, while the fruit reads as the product, set just below it as proof. The cut line of each slice also sits on the central axis of its arch, which keeps the whole composition quietly symmetrical.
