SMOOR Toy Treats: Packaging a World of Play
A chocolate collection inspired by childhood curiosity.
What if a box of chocolates could invite a child to play?
For SMOOR’s Toy Treats collection, FATLEG worked alongside the brand to connect the imagination behind the chocolates with the experience of discovering them. The packaging needed to express the collection’s playful spirit while remaining recognisably SMOOR.
The design began with the product itself. Chocolates shaped like familiar objects offered a connection to the things children build, explore and imagine. We carried that connection onto the packaging, creating four illustrated worlds across the Little Style, Little Fixer, Little Builder and Little Learner editions.
Each pack centres on a hand interacting with an object from its world. Around it, illustrations of tools, building blocks, stationery and accessories turn the surface into a scene to explore. This shared composition connects the collection, while distinct colour palettes and themed illustrations give every edition its own personality.
The carry-case format extends the idea through the structure of the pack. An integrated handle makes the box part of the experience, echoing the small cases children carry for their own activities and discoveries. The packaging introduces the world of the product before the box is opened.
Bold colour combinations bring energy to the range. A consistent white label gives the SMOOR identity and Toy Treats name a clear place within the detailed illustrations, balancing playful expression with easy recognition.
Throughout the collection, the intention was to create a close relationship between product, illustration and packaging. The shapes inside inform the stories outside, making each edition feel like one connected idea.
Toy Treats brings a playful expression to SMOOR’s world of chocolate, creating an experience that begins with curiosity and continues with the first bite.
