The cosmetics market for older adults remains visually conservative and conceptually limited. Most products focus on anti-aging correction, muted aesthetics, and the reduction of visible age. This approach reinforces the idea that aging should be softened, hidden, or repaired. Experimental or provocative cosmetics brands specifically designed for older consumers remain rare.
SCANDAL! introduces a structural and emotional redesign of cosmetic packaging for the senior market. The brand rejects the narrative of concealment and instead celebrates visibility and presence. Its visual identity is built on a bold color palette and unapologetically loud slogans that refuse to disappear quietly.
Each product is tightly wrapped with a rubber band resembling barrier tape. This element symbolizes societal pressure and age-based stereotypes. To access the cosmetic, the user must physically remove the band. This gesture becomes a ritual of release — a deliberate act of stepping beyond imposed limitations.
The rubber bands can be reused for everyday purposes, extending their function beyond the packaging itself.
The project challenges the belief that bold beauty belongs only to youth. Beauty does not fade with age, and visibility should not diminish over time.
The bright colors, confrontational slogans, and the brand name itself create a strong emotional connection with the consumer.
