Caves Montanha

M&A CREATIVE AGENCY

ANADIA - LISBON

Transforming generations of sparkling wine expertise into a premium packaging success.

Montanha Real was created to position a premium sparkling wine at a significantly higher level within a competitive market.

Built on Caves Montanha’s heritage and recognised expertise in producing exceptional sparkling wines, the project called for a completely new packaging identity, one capable of expressing quality, provenance and distinction before the bottle was opened.

The result is a confident and sophisticated presentation that elevated the product’s perceived value, strengthened its premium credentials and became a major commercial success.

The Challenge

Caves Montanha possesses an established legacy in the production of great sparkling wines. However, Montanha Real Grande Reserva needed a visual identity capable of translating that expertise into a more exclusive and desirable proposition.

The challenge was to move beyond the familiar codes of the category and create a packaging experience that would command attention, justify a higher positioning and differentiate the product from its competitors.

It needed to feel prestigious without becoming excessive, combining the authority of the Montanha heritage with a more contemporary expression of luxury.

The Strategic Idea
Elevating a Sparkling Legacy

The creative approach was built around the idea of elevation: raising an established sparkling wine heritage into a more distinctive, premium and emotionally engaging experience.

Every design decision was developed to reinforce the stature of the product. The identity brings together classical elegance, strong contrast and refined detailing, creating a visual language that communicates celebration, craftsmanship and exclusivity.

The Montanha emblem becomes a central brand asset—a symbol of origin, credibility and the expertise accumulated over generations.

The Packaging Design

The dark bottle establishes an immediate sense of depth and sophistication, creating a dramatic background for the gold detailing.

A three-dimensional gold emblem crowns the main label, giving the brand a distinctive and recognisable signature. The black and champagne-gold palette communicates prestige, while the restrained typography and carefully structured hierarchy reinforce the product’s Grande Reserva positioning.

The Blancs et Noirs designation introduces a refined French-inspired character, connecting the sparkling wine to the traditional codes of excellence associated with the category.

The bottle presentation is completed by an elegant cylindrical gift pack. Its champagne-toned finish, delicate linear pattern and subtle turquoise details introduce movement and freshness, suggesting the energy and effervescence of the wine within.

Rather than functioning as a secondary container, the gift pack extends the brand experience and transforms the product into an object designed to be offered, celebrated and remembered.

From Design to Market

The project was developed as a complete packaging system, ensuring consistency between the bottle, label, three-dimensional emblem, neck dressing and gift presentation.

Materials, finishes, colour, typography and structural elements were carefully coordinated to create a coherent premium experience across every consumer touchpoint.

By combining strategic positioning, packaging design, technical development and production oversight, M&A Creative Agency transformed the brand’s ambition into a distinctive, production-ready reality.

The Result

Montanha Real successfully moved the product into a higher competitive space, creating stronger shelf presence and a significantly more valuable brand perception.

The new packaging gave physical expression to Caves Montanha’s legacy and sparkling wine expertise while introducing the desirability required to engage a more premium consumer.

Its major commercial success demonstrated that when heritage, strategy and design work together, packaging becomes more than a presentation, it becomes a powerful driver of preference, value and sales.
