Amul Cheese Slices

From everyday sandwiches to elaborate recipes, cheese slices sneak into almost everything. The current packaging that we have encountered in the Indian market often leads to breakage from unclear cues and awkward handling. Our goal was to reimagine packaging for Amul Cheese Slices, bringing in a consistent unpacking method and protecting cheese from contamination and degradation, while ensuring scalability of the packaging.

The Packaging
Our process involved plenty of back-and-forth. We reimagined the simple act of unpacking a cheese slice, while staying grounded in manufacturability.
The design introduces asymmetrical edge flaps that are easy to spot and grip. A single peeling action opens four points at once, creating a smooth, consistent unpacking experience. The perforated outer box allows for effortless slice removal and doubles as a storage container.

The Results
Our testing proved that users could now locate the flaps easily. Compatible with VFFS production, the inner cover uses 5% less material, and both layers are fully biodegradable!
