Dulicy: Chocolate wrapped in cork

dulicy

Dulicy’s packaging project reinvents the traditional chocolate bar as a lasting Portuguese souvenir.

The chocolate is wrapped in natural Portuguese cork, a material deeply connected to the country’s landscape, culture, and identity. The cork is extracted from the bark of the cork oak tree without cutting down the tree, and its natural thermal insulation properties also help protect the chocolate during transport.

Each package is printed directly onto the cork and features illustrations inspired by Portuguese destinations, monuments, and cultural symbols, including Lisbon, Porto, Sintra, Madeira, the Azores, and the Algarve.

The packaging is designed to remain useful even after the chocolate is consumed. Depending on the edition, part of the design can be detached and kept as a magnet or postcard, transforming the disposable food packaging into a collectible travel souvenir.

The project combines food design, packaging, and souvenirs into a single object. Instead of creating packaging that is immediately discarded, Dulicy sought to give the material a second life through emotional value, functionality, and collectability.

The result is a packaging concept developed around a simple idea: chocolate is temporary, but the memory of the journey can remain.

Chocolate wrapped in cork. Picked, not cut. The chocolate ends, the memory remains.
