Flying Ace Spirits engaged CF Napa to create the packaging, logo and shipper design for their flagship straight bourbon whiskey.

The design solution took its inspiration from the B-24 Liberator bombers that were famously manufactured in Detroit during WWII. The silver metallic paper mimicked the plane’s fuselage while the stripe of color and scheme echoed the painted emblems often seen on the sides of the planes. The stencil typeface treatment utilized for the typography was inspired by the tail numbers emblazoned on the aircraft. The winged A icon took its inspiration from similar winged pilot pins that have become symbols of freedom and independence – it now stands as the bold symbol for this maverick artisan spirit.
