Rootly specializes in churning a lip-smacking range of traditional laddoos and savories, and modern biscuits and crackers. It is a unique blend of traditional and modern.
The word Rootly is the founder’s emotional tribute to her grandmother. It was she who inspired and motivated the founder to explore and preserve her rich culinary roots by taking up culinary arts as her profession. The founder envisions her grandmother to be the ‘root’ that has inspired her to give wings to her thoughts and branch off into this innovative endeavor of Indian sweets & snacks.
We got the opportunity to work on the packaging design for traditional Indian sweets for the brand. Keeping a modern vintage aesthetic, we made sure that the brand’s story remains consistent in the visual design aspect as well. We illustrated the sweets to make the boxes eye-grabbing in markets.
The Kalyanam Ladoos in particular have a cultural history of being served in Tamilian wedding lunches, hence we kept the visual aesthetic festive by using the traditional marigold flowers (often used in Indian wedding functions) on the packaging.
The brand also makes makes effort to use minimal plastic in its packaging. All the designs are printed on tin boxes.
