Book design: The thirteenth witch

This book (in Hungarian “A tizenharmadik boszorkány” originally published in English at Probable Future) is a magical realistic, female family novel. Beneath the seemingly light surface, she hides painful secrets and difficult destinies, all dressed in a magical and sincere robe. The cover I designed shows both magical and mysterious signs of the story.

In the center of the cover I choose the home of the main characters, the Cake House. The roses that emerge from behind the house symbolize the female members of the family, and the arrowheads, as in the story, symbolize the tragic fate of the family. With the composition turning around on the inside cover, I wanted to show the duality in the relationship between the main characters and the community around them.
