The Power of Storytelling in Wine Label Design

As a designer, I strive to create wine label designs that not only look beautiful but also tell a story. My latest design for The Wine Bros wine brand is a perfect example of a storytelling label design.
The label was created to tell the story of the two brothers who run their own vineyard in Hissar. It was important to me that their family name, ‘Dochev and Dochev’, was proudly displayed as the signature of the brand.

To showcase the two distinct personalities of the brothers, I incorporated two overlapping text bubbles onto the label. The rectangular bubble with rounded corners represents one brother’s opinion, while the oval bubble represents the other. The intersection zone between the two bubbles represents the common ground where the two brothers agree on their passion for wine. To bring this concept to life, I created a hole in the label paper, allowing the customer to touch the bottle glass, symbolizing the special bond the two brothers share.

I opted for a non-traditional label shape, which perfectly suits the unique style and character of the wine. The soft, smooth texture of the paper adds a tactile element to the label, making it stand out among other wine bottles. The rectangular bubble boasts a silver frame with microembossing, adding a touch of luxury and sophistication to the design. In contrast, the round bubble features a single-color frame, printed with a gloss transparent varnish. The color of the frame is perfectly matched with the color of the sealing wax on top of the bottle, adding a harmonious and cohesive element to the overall design.

The conical shape of the bottle is not just practical, but also a memorable feature that adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the label. I am proud to have designed a label that truly captures the essence of ‘The Wine Bros’ and their passion for producing exceptional wine.
