At the heart of this story is the rattlesnake -the animal spirit that guides Don Cazcabel, the medicine man who brought to the Highlands of Jalisco, the pre-hispanic knowledge of making an extraordinary tequila.

Over a century ago, Don Chelino Vazquez found him in the Potosi desert and together they returned to the highlands, where Don Cazcabel shared his tequila recipe. Don Chelino started a family of tequileros and, four generations later, the Vazquez still hear the shaman’s wisdom in the rattling of the snake, “dream, but do not live asleep”.
