Witty Bitty – Smart treats for rats

Witty Bitty is a conceptual project of smart treats for rats.

Research revealed that rats are among the most intelligent animals—and the smartest rodents. They’ve made major contributions to science and continue to help in groundbreaking discoveries. Their intelligence is also why they’re often kept as pets. Despite their small size, rats can remember their names and form complex logical chains.

In designing the packaging, I wanted to reflect these intellectual traits and show how unique rats are. I avoided the typical “scientist rat” image and searched for a deeper metaphor. I aimed to combine the scientific world—linked to intelligence and research—with the rat’s natural curiosity and instinct to explore.

That’s how the idea of a rat entering a wormhole was born. The wormhole became a symbol of science: complex, abstract, and full of unknowns. Visually, I drew inspiration from scientific sketches and data graphs. The rat illustration is playful, creating contrast with the structured scientific visuals.

On the package, the rat enters from the back and exits from the front—so the sides represent space and time. I chose blue and silver as key colors to reflect intelligence and technology, aligning with the brain-boosting vitamins inside the treats.
